Are We Pumpkins Yet?

 

It's 11:47pm here at the Champlain College Game Design Lab, Orlando Campus, and the Champlain Four are still hard at work.  It's amazing that, while Melinda Doolittle and Disco Dancing were going on just across the hall, our four intrepid designers were still hard at work, maintaining their focus on the goals they've been given. 

 

I came by at 10pm to see how they were doing and had my two little girls, ages 7 and 4, with me.  The team took time to say hello to my girls and to show them what they were up to.  Emily even showed them how to use some of the design equipment she's been employing for her graphics work.  My youngest, Marleigh, had fun posing for pictures, showing Ann her tongue, which was, at the time, blue from the candy she was eating.  Here are some pictures:

Elliott came by at 11:30, handing out pretzel sticks to everyone and checking in to see how things were going.  He gave the team brief overview of exactly when they would be delivering their final results to the conference attendees.

 

Over the past hour that I've been here blogging, several people have wandered by to say hello and speak with the team.  The Champlain Four have become quite famous.

 

I volunteered to help with some of the voiceover work they are engaged in currently.  It's fun.

 

As a matter of fact, I realized while I was doing voiceover work with the team that even after three intense days, they are still joking and laughing and having a good time.  I find myself admiring their spirit, focus, and talent.  I've said it before and I will say it again... this is an impressive group of young people.

 

I'm going to have to go to bed soon.  At my age, all-nighters are too punishing.  That said, the Champlain team seems set to work through the night.  Ann is here with them and, who knows, she might just stay here all night as well.

 

By the way, the team is cooking up a fun little surprise for Elliott.  :-)
