Session Description: The primary reason for providing effective learning opportunities for employees is to increase the probability of creative and consistent performance on the job. Employers, human resource management and training personnel should be concerned for another reason reason. This reason involves the prevention of legal liability against the employer and its personnel. In this context, effectively designed and delivered learning programs become an affirmative defense to an allegation of failure to adequately train the organization's employees.

  • Potential areas of liability and costs for which training is an appropriate solution
  • Factors in the design, facilitation and evaluation of training that reduce the potential for liability
  • An actual court case demonstrating principles that reduce the potential for liability
