Session Description: The classroom can still be a viable option to meet our learning needs. What may be missing is that classroom courses and materials do not always benefit from the new techniques and strategies being developed for on-line learning. Our organization is working to make life easier and classes more solid by defining an approach where even classroom courses are built in modules for easy reusability. Our goal is to have 80% of the course be immediately reusable with the remaining 20% as modifiable to suit the specific needs of other audiences.

  • How can what's happening in the on-line arena be applied to classroom design?
  • The project management pitfall of having the same person perform the research, design, development, delivery and maintenance of a course
  • Where do you store all the pieces used in classroom instruction? And how do you find them later?

Led by: Gary Spurgeon - COUNTRY Ins & Financial Services

Gary Spurgeon joined COUNTRY Insurance as a system analyst in IT and later moved to the IT Training Support area. When the IT division was eliminated, he transferred to Corporate Learning & Development where he managed the company's desktop PC training program while facilitating general employee topics and doing organizational development consulting. He is currently a project manager who still does instructional design and is co-leading a project to replace the existing LMS in 2008.
