Engage in an interactive benchmarking dialogue with other colleagues from the K-12 Education field in this special MyIndustry Learning User Group. We will compare notes about how "Learning is Changing", including:

 

  • Starting down the paths of new learning initiatives: stories of overcoming challenges
  • Major barriers to the adoption of e-Learning programs within schools today
  • Best practices used by successful schools to overcome barriers in the adoption of a new or existing e-Learning programs

Julie Young, Florida Virtual School

 

Julie E. Young pioneered the launch of the Florida Virtual School (FLVS) in 1997 with a goal of developing and providing access to high-quality online courses to students throughout the State of Florida. Today, her vision has become an award-winning leading provider of Internet-based courseware for middle and high school students in Florida and around the globe.

Jeff Murphy, Florida Virtual School

 

Jeff Murphy serves as Director of Instruction for the Florida Virtual School (FLVS).  He joined FLVS in 1998 as an instructor and course developer, and served as a Project Manager for course development and course licensing, a Database Manager responsible for the school’s Learning Management System, and an Instructional Leader supervising FLVS teachers. Jeff has been involved in education for the last 17 years, starting out as a classroom teacher in Daytona Beach. He holds a Masters Degree in Educational Technology and is finishing an Ed. Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.

Brian Petersen, E-Learning for Kids

 

Brian Petersen is the COO of the e-Learning For Kids (EFK) Foundation, a non-profit organization providing free courseware to children over the Internet in several disciplines. He is also the VP of Learning and Professional Services at Aptara, Inc., a global learning company providing advisory and development services to organizations and K-12 schools. Brian holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology.
